You may have seen the news article going around right now about things that 3rd graders wish their teacher knew.  In response, here are several things that I wish my students knew.  I bet you could add several of your own.

I wish my students knew...

More things I wish my students knew...

I wish my students knew:

-I don’t like all this testing either.

-In front of the class I have to keep a straight face, but sometimes your inappropriate comments are totally hilarious.

-Lately my school kids have been getting more of my time than my own kids.

-It makes my day when you cheer because I’m back at school after a sub day.

-Even when I go home, I still think about you, worry about you, and feel proud of you.

-I can tell your hyperactivity is out of your control.  I desperately wish your parents would talk to your doctor about it.

-I had no idea how hard this job would be.  The idea that I’m an important part of your life keeps me coming back everyday

-Don’t worry that you can’t solve this, there’s a good chance that you’ll never encounter a problem like this in real life.

-I was up until midnight preparing this lesson…that’s why your lack of effort is especially frustrating.

-I don’t get elementary school humor, but I laugh ’cause I’m nice.

-On the first day of school I’m just as nervous about you as you are about me.

  1. It breaks my heart when you come to my class, act disrespectful, refuse to work, and then end at the bell saying, “I love you.” If you love me so much, show me by doing your work!

  2. I wish my students knew how important their parents involvement( or lack of) in their education makes a difference in who they are becoming.

  3. That strangely we all get what you dislike about life and school because we didn’t like it either. But sometimes we get caught up in th politics that is your education and forget the most important part. That life is for living and experiencing and can be short or long so school should be about learning in the easiest way possible and have fun doing it. Otherwise why would you want to go, I know I wouldn’t !
