Teacher Performance Pay

If Teachers Designed Performance Pay - What would your bonus be using this system? When my last school started talking about implementing performance pay for teachers, it put a knot in my stomach.  I imagined that test scores would be the main, perhaps only, means for measuring teacher performance.  While student academic growth (even if not on grade level) is one mark of teacher quality there is WAY more to look at.  Teachers wear so many hats on any given day and frankly, meeting students’ basic needs has to happen before any instruction can be absorbed anyway!  Unless you were in the trenches, how could you really know what identified a teacher that was going above and beyond? This list could go on and on here is a handful of things I think could be included in a performance pay scale:

If teachers designed performance pay

It’s all subjective but I tried to consider how difficult each item was, how much time it would take, and how many students would benefit from it.

I’d love to hear what you would add!
