I’m excited to be linking up with 4th Grade Frolics today for the September edition of Monday Made It!

I’m not sure I inherited the enthusiasm for holidays that most teachers have, so I’m really working on it this year.  Just today I finished this fun Halloween-themed color by code activity, and I’m offering it for FREE!

Kids identify short and long vowel sounds in the words on the page and color each section accordingly, how fun!  The sneaky-e pattern is used for the long vowel words.

Maybe next I’ll buy some holiday sweaters and earrings… haha!

Here’s another freebie I made this week.  I recently heard about the 6 Signposts strategy for close reading.  It comes from the book Notice and Note: Strategies for Close Reading.  I think it’s really challenging to help kids know how to find the most important details in a book  This strategy is really helpful.  It gives kids 6 important features or moments to look for in fiction books.  These “signposts” help lead them to the theme of the book.  You can download this anchor chart for FREE!  More about this strategy here.

Here is a fun book mark I made for a contest at my school.  I was so excited that there was a teacher division and that it wasn’t just for kids.  I used pointilism and put characters from familiar childrens’ books in hot air balloons.

Here’s a non-teaching/school project.  This is a card I made for a friend’s wedding.  The colors on the card matched their wedding colors.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I’ve made!
